Craigellachie 1995 22 Year — Old Malt Cask / 50% / $120

This is a 22 year old Craigellachie from Sherry Butt HL14460, distilled in September 1995 and bottled November 2017. It has been watered down to the OMC staple 50%.

• Color: amontillado sherry (0.9)
• Nose: sulphur, rubber, bubble yum gum, mixed berry jam, a bit of mint
• Taste: sprite, lemons, medium-dry sherry; oily oakiness
• Finish: apple, butter, and vanilla

This one’s a bit all over the place for me; it’s fruity and weird, but the rubbery nose kills it a bit for me. Would I buy it again? Maybe.

Clynelish 1995 22 Year — The Whisky Trail / 57.5% / $250

Tasted with a bit of filtered water

From Elixir Distillers comes The Knights series of The Whisky Trail Clynelish, 22 years old from a Hogshead, distilled 31.10.1995 and bottled 14.03.2018 at 57.5%. Just one of 264 Highland bottles.

• Color: chestnut (1.2)
• Nose: paraffin, dry oak-aged chardonnay, lemon
• Taste: oily chalk, winter spices, creme brulee, and lemongrass
• Finish: long, almost effervescent honey, rich oak

This vintage is turning out to be a real favourite of mine for Clynelish. Buy buy buy!
