Following the release of a canned Hakushu highball, Suntory has just released a Yamazaki version to celebrate their 100 Year Anniversary. It is also ¥600 a can (US $4.29), non-age-statement (NAS), and 9% ABV.
350ml * 9% / .43 = 73mls of Yamazaki, which sells its NAS for ¥4,500 per 700ml 43%er, making this can’s bottle equivalent price ¥5,734 or +27% more expensive than just drinking Yamazaki NAS neat.
The feature claimed with this one is a “rich / deep taste of mizunara oak”, and while it drinks almost as easily as its peated twin, it’s not particularly memorable. Still, it’s better than most canned highballs on the market, so I’ll give it a 3/5.
