Craigellachie 2007 Cadenhead’s Cask Strength 11 Year Old / 54.0%

Tasted neat

Cadenhead’s Cask Strength Craigellachie 11 Year was distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2019, just eleven years old, from three bourbon hogsheads, yielding a massive 834 bottles of this relatively young spirit. The liner notes read:

Nose: Millionaire shortcake, green bananas, and muscovado sugar.
Palate: Paprika, pecans and honey.
Finish: Died mixed herbs, pears and star anise.
  • Color: ripe corn (0.4)
  • Nose: unripe apples, salt water, white wine, and cloves
  • Taste: campfire ashes, maple syrup, muskmelon, and fudge
  • Finish: white sugar and ice cream

This is quite a young dram, but it’s quite tasty and good value for the money. The only downsides are it feels a little brash, but sometimes, that’s what you want.

Rating: 86/100
